Min Lo showed keen interest in drawing and painting
very early in life. She, however had few opportunities learning
art until she decided to go to the United States when she enrolled
to study at the Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, Florida
where she earned her Bachelor of Arts and her Master of Fine Arts.
It was there that she had the opportunity to work as an illustrator
in A Beka Book, the largest Publisher of Christian textbooks. Under
the tutelage of renowned painter Brian Jekel, she learned the importance
of fundamentals of the subject. With the mentor-tutor she learnt
to admire the works of the Old Masters.
In 1999, she completed her thesis on John Singer
Sargent and his artistic influences on other artists and students.
Min has been active since then teaching in art
colleges back in Malaysia. She joined the Institute of Advertising
Communication Training in Petaling Jaya, Intec College in Penang
and finally at Equator Academy of Art, also in Penang. Her specialist
is in teaching Arts and Design subjects including Visual Studies,
Color Studies and Drawing. At Equator Academy of Art, she holds
the position of Head of Department of Foundation Studies and also
helps out in Contextual Studies for the more senior students preparing
them for credit transfer programmes at universities overseas in
the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
Min has also been active going about and doing life sketches with
her artistic friends. Among the people in the art circle she has
also been active as a judge at children's art competitions.
